2021 SDSU iGEM: SynBioEnergy!

Globally, about 80% of wastewater receives no treatment. This could lead to a shortage of 40% by 2030 if we don't implement new methods of decentralized wastewater treatment. Additionally, energy and carbon neutral fuels are essential to mitigate further effects of anthropogenic climate change. SDSU's SynBioEnergy combines synthetic biology, genetic engineering and environmental engineering to address these issues!
