A Fancy Partnership Plan for IBD Distinguisher (NOFLS_YZ) and BeerJet (Beijing_United)
Just like us, BeerJet (Beijing_United) is also mainly comprised of students from a bilingual school operated by the New Oriental Group. To an extent, we are brother schools. Thus, we got an opportunity to make an in-depth collaboration together.
BeerJet has been focusing on developing a gene-edited yeast to enhance alcohol production by making use of wheat B-starch. If their project succeeds, alcohol production will be implemented in a more efficient, environmental-friendly and economical method.
Surely their project and potential application are full of commercial values, however, it is widely acknowledged that alcohol, especially beverages containing alcohol do cause health challenges to human beings. Even for IBD, the research focus of our project, alcohol is a potential cause. Thereafter, we are wondering about the possibility of lowering the health risk of alcohol users, especially the alcohol beverage takers. In this way, we have been designing an in-depth partnership plan together with BeerJet. The general plan is listed as follows:
1) Exploration of the feasibility about the combination of our IBD biosensor with their gene-edited yeast, or seeking potential methods to introduce our IBD biosensor in their future production of alcohol based on gene-edited yeast;
2) Since the plan of our project may include biological treatment of IBD, we also consider adding the potential treatment to alcohol beverages, which may make these beverages healthier.
3) In our future project commercialization, we consider the possibility of selling our final products, pills containing biosensors possibly, to drugstores, which may share similar distribution channels of alcohol beverages.
Even though it is challenging to realize the above ideas, we consider it is meaningful to test the possibility of them. If one of them could be realized in the future, we will contribute to our society.
