A team continuously participates #iGEM, ten consecutive years!
Fudan University has been taking part in iGEM competition since 2011. Among one of the first teams in China to participate in iGEM, we have deepened our understanding in synthetic biology over the years and endeavored to pass down both our knowledge and our passion, for follew teams that come.

Chao, 2012 iGEMer 1. 参与收获和感悟：最大的收获是提升了独立设计实验能力以及与队友的团结协作能力 2. 最难忘的一件事：在网页制作过程出现问题，与负责的同学一起通宵赶工trouble shooting 3. 科学是不分国界不分种族更是不分性别的，只要怀有对未知真理的好奇心，就可以去探索和研究 1. Participation in gains and perceptions: The biggest gain is the improvement of the ability to independently design experiments and the ability to unite and cooperate with teammates. 2. The most memorable thing: there was a problem in the production of the webpage, trouble shooting with the classmates in charge all night. 3. Science knows no borders, races, or gender. As long as you are curious about the unknown truth, you can explore and study. |

Yang, 2016 iGEMer 参与iGEM的收获与感想：iGEM是本科过程中为数不多独立科研的机会，在这里能够实践你一些新颖独到的想法，但同时也意味着更多的思考和判断。iGEM也是一个非常重要的交流平台：与身边的同学、其他的队伍、分享共同想法的人、各怀不同观点的人；交流和碰撞带来思想上的启发与新的想法，是我在这里得到最重要的收获之一。 鼓励更多女性加入科学研究/STEM领域：女性在很多事情中都会因为性别而面对被定义的问题；被男性定义，被传统观念所定义，被所谓的社会观点所定义。定义是限制自我的枷锁；不要去局限自己，也不要去畏惧别人得到看法，因为他们都会随着你出色的表现而改变。有无数的例子可以证明，不止有男性能够在科学领域里面取得出色的成绩。希望每一个热爱科学的女性，都可以走上自己所喜爱的道路。 Gains and thoughts from participating in iGEM: iGEM is one of the few independent research opportunities in the undergraduate process, where you can practice some of your original ideas, but it also means more thinking and judgment. iGEM is also a very important communication platform: with my classmates, other teams, people who share common ideas, and people with different opinions; exchanges and collisions bring ideological inspiration and new ideas, which I get here One of the most important gains. Encourage more women to join the field of scientific research/STEM: In many things, women face defined problems because of their gender; they are defined by men, defined by traditional concepts, and defined by so-called social opinions. The definition is the shackles that limit yourself; don't limit yourself, and don't be afraid of others to get opinions, because they will all change with your outstanding performance. There are countless examples to prove that more than men can achieve outstanding results in science. I hope that every woman who loves science can embark on the path she loves. |

Zi-jie, 2017 iGEMer 1. 参与iGEM的收获与感想： 认识了一群志同道合的朋友，在科研中徜徉、奋斗与欢乐！ 2. 在iGEM中遇到的难忘的事： 我记得那个时候的每周末晚，我们队伍的所有成员都会齐聚在会议室，一起点些披萨，恣情进行头脑风暴的思维碰撞，分享一周的进度，分析遇到的困难，并齐心寻找解决方案。正是队员间的相互关心、鼓励和帮助，让整个队伍在推进比赛的过程中充满了不竭的动力与激情。 1. Gains and thoughts from participating in iGEM: I met a group of like-minded friends, wandering, struggling and having fun in scientific research! 2. Unforgettable things encountered in iGEM: I remember that every weekend night at that time, all the members of our team would gather in the meeting room, order some pizza together, brainstorm ideas and share the progress of the week. , Analyze the difficulties encountered, and work together to find solutions. It is the mutual care, encouragement and help among the players that make the whole team full of inexhaustible motivation and passion in the process of advancing the game. |

Tian, 2017 iGEMer 1. 我作为Fudan_China队的一员参加了2017年的iGEM。对于我来讲，这段经历最大的收获是认识了很多志同道合的小伙伴。与大家交流的过程中，我可以了解到新的想法，新的思路。他们个个都是人才，说话又好听。 2. 有时候做实验做得很晚，几个人追23:37的最后一班168。 3. 鼓励更多女性加入STEM领域，不要因为性别的标签被劝退或者被鼓励。自己想加入STEM领域的话，就加入STEM领域。 1. I participated in the 2017 iGEM as a member of the Fudan_China team. For me, the biggest gain from this experience is that I have met many like-minded friends. In the process of communicating with you, I can learn new ideas and new ideas. All of them are talents, and they speak nicely. 2. Zi-yan, 2018 iGEMer In retrospect, it was a sweet nightmare. I met a group of wonderful and supportive friends. However, never have I been under so much stress so this ramped up my stress tolerance level as well as my ability in time management. Looking back, I realized as the captain I should have taken more care in managing the progress of each segment of our project and that trying to accomplish a large scale basic research project in one year is too far fetched.The hardest time was during that summer when my mom was in the hospital while I still had tons of experiments to do. I didn't overcome this situation. I was torn between two overwhelming things that striked me hard in life. Other family members stepped in and overcame this situation for me. |

Jian-yi, 2019 iGEMer 1. iGEM项目是我的首个大型自主科研项目，在参与竞赛的过程中我的学术能力与视野、人际交往能力等等方面能力都得到了极大的锻炼与提升。最为重要的是我们团队齐心协力各尽所能克服了各种困难，让我理解了合作的力量。 2. 最初设计增强菌种的粘附性能，但因实验无法实现而停滞不前。在指导老师的建议下我们及时调整心态并更换方向重新进行背景及技术的准备，很快进入正轨并得到了好的实验结果。适时的放弃与放弃的勇气都是必修课。 3. 个人当然支持任何人加入到科学事业乃至社会的各行各业，但是可能的问题也许出在社会结构及其运行方式的更深层次，我认为仅仅表面的一些话语反而会显得轻描淡写。 1. The iGEM project is my first large-scale independent scientific research project. In the process of participating in the competition, my academic ability and vision, interpersonal skills, etc. have been greatly exercised and improved. The most important thing is that our team worked together to overcome various difficulties, and I understood the power of cooperation. 2. Under the advice of the instructor, we adjusted our mentality in time and changed our direction to prepare for the background and technology again. We quickly got on the right track and got good experimental results. Timely giving up and the courage to give up are compulsory courses. 3. Individuals certainly support anyone to join science and even all walks of life in society, but the possible problems may lie in the deeper level of the social structure and the way it operates. I think some superficial words will appear to be an understatement. |
