ART DESIGN
OVERVIEW
There has never existed an impenetrable wall between science and art. Although reading through purely academic content will inevitably make people feel extremely boring and exhausted, through artistic handling, we can bring the lengthly words and formulas alive and equip them with readability. Whether static graphic design or dynamic animation effect, we aim to deliver visual and exact scientific information and interesting and artistic image content to readers.
IDENTITY
COLOR SCHEME
We use black, white and gray as the main colors, and blue and cyan as the auxiliary colors. The combination of black and white and gray is very flexible, beautiful and has a sense of science and technology, and echoes the application scenario of our project: express packaging. Blue and cyan symbolize renewal and hope. In other cases, blue, red, and yellow are also used for bright colors to distinguish between elements in a particular range.
LOGO
Project logo：Our project logo is briefly Abstract form of our degrading
Object：express pakage made of air bubble film and plastic coating.
We also designed different styles to be used in different scenarios.
Team logo：Our team logo is in the shape of a capsule, but the top half has been replaced with an engineered bacterium, a simple and straightforward message of China Pharmaceutical University's integration with synthetic biology. The text part is a re-created font, adding a lively feeling.
MASCOT
In order to increase the vividness of the project and enhance the identification of the team, we designed a mascot named Meddy whose name comes from medicine. The body is a soft capsule, with black, white and gray as the main color, and blue as the auxiliary color.
We designed figures in different states for Meddy and placed them on different pages, aiming to improve the uniformity of wiki. It is worth mentioning that we successfully held an art exhibition about synbio and environmental protection with Meddy as the media. At the same time, we also made stickers, postcards and toys, please see Human Practices section for details.
ANIMATIONS
When we're trying to represent a process or a concept, dynamic graphics are an easy and efficient way to convey meaning. In our promotion video, wiki, presentation, and even human practices, we mainly exploit frame by frame animation. Compared with keyframe animation, even though it seemed to be more time consuming and demanding of the artist, we belive traditional frame by frame will show greater advantages in its flexibility.
RESPONSIVENESS
Responsive web design is a design layout of web pages. The idea is that the size of the images on the page can be created in a concentrated way, and the layout can be intelligently based on user behavior and device environment.
