BLADEN description
The world is changing too fast
for plants to adapt to our needs
but There is a way for
them to adapt quicker

Our project is all about plants. We want to make them better adapted to certain problematic scenarios using evolution within a practical timeframe. To speed up evolution, we used isolated plant cells instead of whole plants.

A key factor in speeding up the evolutionary process is to use a protein called EvolvR, which speeds up the rate of mutation 7.5 million times.

We then have to direct the evolution. By applying a selection pressure relevant to the chosen adaptation, we reduce the growth rate of cells that are poorly adapted.

After repeating the previous steps a number of times, we end up with a collection of supermutants: cells that are as optimized as possible to the scenario we have grown them in.
